Frank Marafiote, Director

As a college teacher for the past 12 years, Frank sees
the many difficulties that international college
students experience as they transition into the American
classroom, whether in a real classroom or through an
online class.
He also recalls his own experience as a "foreign
student" at the University of Vienna, Austria, and
the special challenges inside and outside the classroom
that he faced.
Together those two perspectives led him to establish the
International Student Tutoring Center. His goal -- and
ISTC's mission -- is to give international students the
opportunity to demonstrate their full potential as
students studying abroad.
With a background as a teacher, writer, editor, and
business consultant, Frank is ideally suited to helping
international students improve their written and spoken
English language skills. He also utilizes his 25 years
experience as a marketing and management executive and
consultant to provide personal tutoring in those subject
areas.
As ISTC's director, Frank is also responsible for ensuring that all tutors working for
ISTC meet the highest standards of subject-area knowledge, personal integrity,
and a genuine interest in helping the international student.
Frank received his bachelor's degree in English from
Villanova University and a Master of Business
Administration degree from Southern New
Hampshire University. He is also an adjunct faculty
member at Southern New Hampshire University, where he
teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in
marketing, advertising, and strategic planning.
He is also president of Emerge
Communications, a strategic planning and communications company he founded in 1991. Emerge
is the parent company of International Student Tutoring Center.
A trained family mediator, Frank does volunteer parent-child mediation for the
Belknap County Youth Services Bureau. He is also a private
pilot and lives in Gilford, NH.
